First, start by using a microfibre cloth to wipe away any dirt or debris that is on the surface of the sensors. If there is any stubborn dirt or grime, you can spray it with WD-40 and let it sit for a few minutes before wiping it away. Once the surface is clean, you will need to clean the sensor itself.

I had the same issue with my 18 Tiguan. Side indicators AND rear back-up cam failed to work at the same time. After a couple of weeks, I took it in to get looked at. Initial diagnostics came up with no solve: got a loaner and 10 days later got it back, working again, all covered under warranty. Now my rear hatch is not working.

Lane assist could be passive or active - active assistance you can switch on via Car settings. Passive just warns you (with steering wheel, pulls you back) about lanes, active steers you between the lines. Front assist is standard, lane assist is an option (at least here).
